Influence of grinding conditions on clogging of CBN wheels
Abrasive, abrasive particle size, binder, hardness, and grinding wheel organization are the main factors for the blockage of grinding wheels during the working process. In addition, the grinding conditions also have an effect on the clogging of the grinding wheel.
Influence of grinding conditions
1. Linear speed of grinding wheel
Increasing the linear speed of the grinding wheel will cause the maximum cutting depth of the abrasive particles to decrease and the cross-sectional area of the chip also decreases. At the same time, the number of cuts and grinding heat increase, this increases the amount of clogging. The speed of the grinding wheel should be selected reasonably when grinding.
2. Workpiece speed
Practice has proved that increase the working speed twice; it will make the blockage of the grinding wheel tripled. The higher the workpiece speed, the greater the abrasive load. The shallower the cutting depth of the abrasive particles, the smaller the cross-sectional area of the chips. When the grinding thickness increases, the abrasive particle passivation will be aggravated that may cause the grinding layer and the workpiece squeezes. It is equivalent to the grinding wheel become hardening, which will aggravate the blockage of the grinding wheel.
3. Grinding method
In the grinding method, increasing the contact area between the grinding wheel and the workpiece will aggravate the blockage of the grinding wheel. Due to the large contact area between the grinding wheel and the workpiece, it is difficult for the coolant to enter the grinding area so that the grinding heat gets high. And then temperature is high, which causes clogging and is prone to chemical adhesion clogging and embedded clogging. For example, the end grinding is easier to block than the peripheral grinding, and the horizontal cutting grinding is more serious than the longitudinal grinding.
4. Radial cutting amount
The influence of the radial cutting amount on the blockage of the CBN grinding wheel shows a hump trend. When the radial cutting amount ap<0.01mm, clogging occurs. When the cutting amount increases to ap=0.03mm, the blocking amount shows a decreasing trend. When the cutting amount continues to increase ap=0.04mm, the blocking amount rises sharply.
5. Grinding fluid
Choosing an excellent grinding fluid can improve grinding clogging.
In summary, the particle size, hardness, structure, liner speed, workpiece speed, grinding method, cutting depth and grinding fluid are the factors that affect the blockage of the grinding wheel during the grinding process. Establish optimized and reasonable grinding parameters and summarize the rules should be our task in the future.
