The introduction of grinding-Superhard abrasive grinding wheels
Superhard abrasive grinding wheel grinding mainly refers to the use of diamond grinding wheels and cubic boron nitride grinding wheels to process high hardness and high brittle materials such as cemented carbide, ceramics, glass, semiconductor materials and stone.
Its outstanding features are:
① Strong cutting ability, good wear resistance, high durability, easy to control processing size and realize processing automation.
② Small grinding force, low grinding temperature, good surface quality, no burns, cracks and organization changes. When the diamond wheel processs cemented carbide, its grinding force is only 1/4~1/5 of that of the green silicon carbide wheel.
③ High grinding efficiency. When processing hard alloy, non-metallic hard and brittle materials, the metal removal rate of diamond grinding wheel is better than that of cubic boron nitride grinding wheel; but when processing heat-resistant steel, titanium alloy, mold steel, etc., cubic boron nitride grinding wheel is much higher than diamond grinding wheels.
④ Low processing cost. Diamond grinding wheels and cubic boron nitride grinding wheels are more expensive, but due to their long life and high processing efficiency, the overall cost is low.
1. The factors of affecting Super-abrasive grinding wheel grinding process
⑴ Grinding amount.
⑵Grinding fluid. Grinding fluid has a great impact on the life of super-abrasive wheels and the quality of the grinding surface. For example, wet grinding with resin-bonded super-abrasive grinding wheels can increase the life by about 40% than dry grinding, so it is generally used wet grinding.
Due to the compact structure of the super-abrasive grinding wheel, few pores, and easy to block during the grinding process, the grinding fluid is required to have good lubricity, cooling, cleaning and permeability.
In grinding process of diamond grinding wheel, oily liquids and water-soluble liquids (emulsions, aqueous solutions of inorganic salts) are commonly used as grinding liquids. It is depending on the specific circumstances. Soda water should not be used for resin bond grinding wheels. In grinding of cubic boron nitride wheels, oily liquids are generally used as grinding liquids instead of water-soluble ones, because the cubic boron nitride abrasive grains and water will undergo hydrolysis under high temperature conditions, which will increase the wear of the grinding wheel.
